Learning how to make your own cat food may sound daunting initially (and it did for me, so I know where you’re coming from), but I promise you, it is so easy. The hardest part is getting your head around the idea, like most things in life. It’s that initial making up your mind that is the most difficult. But I suspect you have already done that, otherwise it’s unlikely you’d be reading this. But let me just confirm your decision.Processed cat food has largely low grade ‘meat’ (fat, rejects for human food, waste from fast food outlets, road kill, euthanised pets, horses, zoo animals, etc), cheap filler (sugar, melamine, anything cheap on the world market), preservatives (highly toxic ones that aren’t allowed in human food), isolated and synthetic nutrients that aren’t easily absorbed and have problems of their own and other gory details.Learning how to make your own cat food, means the health of your cat is going to be far superior to cats fed processed food.So what do I mean by easy? I’ll tell you what I do, then you can decide.I feed my cats raw meat and bones, the two essential part of a cats diet. I like to give them a variety to make sure they have all the necessary nutrients. And cats do like variety. They get two meals a day.The meal around the raw bones is varied with fish, chicken necks and chicken wings. The raw meat meal is always half muscle meat. The other half is the variety part. I like to bring in different organ meats and some game meat. I purchase seven different types of (human grade) meat so they get different meals each day of the week. Then you mix the muscle meat with the organ meat, add a couple of recommended supplements, moisten with a little water and let your cat enjoy the experience. This is the easier way I have found, as then I simply get into the routine of purchasing the same foods each week.Make your own cat food. Your cat will be healthier and happier for it. And you’ll be lighter in the pocket, without health expenses.

Raw cat food is by far the healthiest diet you can give your cat. It may even be the best thing you ever do for your cat. Why?Holistic veterinarians around the world have discovered that when they put their ailing patients on a totally raw and quality diet, chronic, serious and degenerative diseases melt away, as if by magic.Diseases such as cystitis, skin problems, bladder and kidney stones, dead babies, infertility, heart disease, spinal myelopathy, leukaemia, tumours and more.Fleas virtually disease and worms are no longer a concern. How is all this possible, simply by feeding a raw cat food?Firstly, cat evolved on raw food. And fresh, raw food. Cats, unlike dogs, won’t naturally eat anything other than very fresh meat. Obviously, they’ll eat anything if that is all that is available to them. But, in the wild, they won’t eat carrion. They will only eat the food they have just killed. That’s why cats are such fussy eaters.Secondly, processed cat food is nutrient poor. All the best meat goes to the human market, as it’s more lucrative. So pets get a lot of junk food – literally. Not just meat that is really just fat, but rejects from junk and fast food, too. And road kill. And maybe euthanised pets, horses and zoo animals, including the lethal injection ingredients. This doesn’t break down.Just the poor quality ‘meat’ is enough to make you release that your cat could never be healthy on such a diet. But there’s more.Highly toxic preservatives go into processed cat food, despite what the label may say. As long as the cat food supplier doesn’t add the preservative, they can legally make such a claim. Even if the processor they bought the meat from, did add preservative. And two of the worst preservatives are ethoxyquin and formaldehyde. Neither of these are permitted in human food. Ethoxyquin gives factory workers exposed to it, agent orange like symptoms. Formaldehyde is used to embalm dead bodies. So don’t let anyone persuade you that raw cat food is not the healthiest way to feed your cat.

Which is the most nutritious low cost cat food? Can you have a nutritious and a low cost cat food? Isn’t it a bit like asking if you can have your cake and eating it, too?The great thing is that you can.But it doesn’t come in any can or packet.Nutritious cat food needs to be the type of food that your cat has evolved on. After all, that has been going on for rather a long time.Whereas processed act food has been going on for only a few decades.Cats are notoriously fussy eaters. This is because they prefer to kill their food and eat it immediately. Which means they prefer super fresh meat and bones.Fresh meat is the healthiest. Would you eat stale meat? It’s much more likely to contain harmful pathogens. And cats know this.Processed food, at best, is the rejects from human food processing plants. Which means it’s low grade and usually not fresh at all.By buying human grade meat and bones (in the form of chicken necks and wings) and feeding this raw to your cat, you will be getting as close as you can to the diet they evolved on.That’s the most nutritious food for your cat, without a shadow of a doubt. But is it the lowest cost?On the surface, I’m sure you’ll agree that it sounds as if it’s one of the most expensive diets. But, when you feed your cat real food, they need much less than poor quality food. Nutrient dense food will satisfy them quickly. Nutrient poor food will never satisfy them, so they will always be hungry.Don’t suspect worms, although that may be a problem. Suspect the quality of the food you are feeding.Couple that with the fact that a nutritious cat food will keep your cat healthier longer, and imagine the veterinarian bills you won’t be paying out.Learning which is the most nutritious low cost cat food can mean a win-win situation – your cat’s health and your wallet.

What’s on your mind when you consider an all natural dog food? Could it be a commercial dog food which has the word ‘natural’ on the packet? Could it be you think of cooking your own dog food from scratch? Do you consider table scraps to be the ideal diet?Wrong! None of the above will address your dog’s health, Why not?Well, the commercial dog food starts off with very low grade meat, mostly meat by-products (the better quality going for the higher priced human food), high fat and sometimes euthanased animals, which contain the chemical sodium pentobarbital. Then, to bulk out the already cheap ‘meat’, a non-nutritional filler is added. That can be sugar, as there’s a world glut of it at the moment, or melamine if you live in China. Then, to keep the product indefinitely at room temperature a preservative is added. When you see a packet of dried dog food in the shop, with the slogan ‘preservative free’ ask yourself this question – how can dried ‘meat’ be kept indefinitely at room temperature without preservatives? Do you think you wouldn’t have heard of a new way to do this, if there was?So either there is no ‘meat’ or there is preservative present. Trouble is, the preservatives used are very strong, cause huge health problems and aren’t allowed in human food.So commercial dog food can be crossed off as an all natural dog food!.I see quite a lot of ‘dog experts’ on the internet advocating you cook your own dog food. Whilst that is hugely better than commercial pet food, it’s still missing the nutrients that are lost in cooking. Typically these are vitamins and enzymes, both essential for a healthy dog. But other nutrients are altered by cooking. Fat changes during the cooking process from a beneficial food to a harmful one.So you can cross though this one too, as an all natural dog food. What about table scraps? That depends so much on the table scraps. If the human food is a good, natural one of lots of raw fruit and veg, with lightly cooked meat, then these table scraps have the potential of being the best dog food out of all three options, as long as there is enough left over to satisfy your dog’s nutritional needs. If, however, your diet is typically fast food with a lot of processed food, then these table scraps will be little better than the commercial dog food.Yet another cross through. There is only one all natural dog food and that’s the one dogs evolved on. Nothing that mankind has done has improved one iota on that. And considerable decline has occurred.Dogs have evolved over millions of years on an all natural dog food and it keeps them happy and healthy.Once you get to grips with the idea of how dogs evolved, duplicating that diet within the constraints of what is available and the limits on your time, is not that difficult. However, there are a few important things you need to know such as:

When you change the diet of your dog from a commercial pet food to an all natural dog food, there may initially be a de-toxing period. This is normal and natural, but can seem a bit scary to you if you don’t understand why it’s happening and the symptoms. It should be of short duration, depending on your dog’s age and level of health.Dogs digestion is robust. They have evolved on eating raw meat and carrion. They can’t cope with preservatives, fillers, high fat or low grade protein, none of which occurs (at least in high proportions) in nature.Once you have your dog on an all natural dog food, you’ll find fewer and fewer health problems. I’m sure you’d be as happy as anyone, to cut your dog’s professional health fees.
